Snowboarding season is almost upon us! if you live in Colorado then a majority of us are already thinking about the first snow fall. One of the many places to hit the slopes this year is the Aspen Snowmass. Which is really 4 different slopes put together, there is the Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. All 4 of these slopes are located in the White River National Forrest near downtown Aspen. The Snowmass is open from November 27,2014 to April 12,2015, with a base elevation of 8,104 ft. and a summit height of 12,510 ft. The whole Snowmass spanning 3,332 acres of terrain, with 94 trails, 21 chairlifts and access to your choice of cruisers, glades, steeps, and halfpipes. Aspen mountain is open from November 27,2014 to April 19,2015 with base elevation of 7,945 and a summit height of 11,212. Now if this is your first time skiing the Aspen Mountain terrain is not a place where you want to start out with a black diamond rating (meaning the most difficult at the resort). The Aspen Highlands are going to be open December 12,2014 to April 12,2015 with a base elevation of 8,040ft. and a summit height of 11,675 ft. The Aspen Highlands trail is a favorite among the locals with trails varying from easy to expert.
